Plans are underway for the 2011 Government-in-action Youth Tour in June. Bailey County Electric is searching fr two outstanding high school juniors or seniors with leadership potential to represent their schools, communities, and Bailey Cou7nty Electric Cooperative in Washington, D.C.

To be eligible, students must be able to participate in the Youth Tour trip on June June 9-17, 2011, ride on a bus for up to 12-hours (with breaks), fly in an airplane, assist BCEC with promoting the Youth Tour and attend BCEC’s annual meeting. Participants must live in the BCEC’s service area.

While in Washington, students will meet with legislative leaders from Texas and tour sites that are a part of the history and the very fabric of our nation. Included on the itinerary are visits to the Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the National Archives, visit Congressmen, Tour House and Senate Chambers, just to name a few.

Youth Tour participants are selected by an interview on their knowledge of Electric Cooperatives.
